My name is Trevor Rains.
I was born in Kent and moved to Surrey over 40 years ago with my wife.
We have two grown-up sons and five grandchildren. I enjoy watching most sports and in particular Rugby, Football and Cricket.
When I retired I learnt to play golf and gain a tremendous amount of enjoyment from this hobby, together with my Freemasonry.
Our main past times seem to be spent with the family, holidays and Freemasonry. I have no background in Freemasonry other than my Father told me once that he had an opportunity to join, but never took up the chance.
This is something I did not want to miss out on and I took the step over 30 years ago.
We have gained many lasting friends over this period and a sense of achievement and well-being.
The amount of enjoyment and fun gained is enormous and is of great benefit and long may it continue. Over the years I have been involved with many aspects of Freemasonry and I was appointed as Assistant Provincial Grand Master in 2011.
This means I am responsible for a number of Lodges in Surrey and for the last 5 years have been responsible for Welfare of the Province via the Welfare Officers of the Lodges.
I have now taken over a new challenge, that of Membership which means I look after Recruitment and Retention of our members.
Sharing and improving our values helping to shape our society for the future is important to us all.
