Invitation to all Hall Stone Lodges to a Joint Meeting of the Circuit of Service Lodges in The Grand Temple, Freemasons’ Hall, London.
On Saturday 10th November 2018. As part of the commemoration of the centenary of the Armistice that drew a halt to the Great War, Victoria Rifles Lodge No. 822 (the Installed Masters’ Lodge of the Circuit of Service Lodges) is planning to host their regular meeting in the Grand Temple of Freemasons’ Hall on Saturday 10th November 2018.
One principle item of business will be recognition of the 1,321 Hall Stone Lodges and the part that they played in the funding of Freemasons’ Hall and the brilliant memorial to all those who fell during that horrific conflict.
To that end we will be extending an invitation to the Worshipful Master (or his representative) of every Hall Stone Lodge still in existence to attend this milestone event in 2018.
The event has the approval of the Board of General Purposes and falls the day before the Cenotaph Remembrance Service on Sunday 11th November, exactly 100 years on from the Armistice.
Subject to space restrictions in the Grand Temple, other members of the Lodge would be very welcome.
It is hoped that all 32 Circuit Lodges will be present in significant numbers, swelled by In-Pensioners from the Royal Hospital Chelsea as well as military Freemasons from around the country.
The meeting will be full of military symbolism, reflecting the part that Freemasons played in the conflict and it is hoped that at least one of the High Rulers will grace the meeting with his presence.
Full details are still under development but we envisage a 11.30 am start, which will permit travelers arriving from further afield opportunity to return home the same day.
There will probably be a need to make a small charge and there will also be an opportunity to join us for lunch in the Grand Connaught Rooms on a self-funded basis.
Further details will be available in due course but we would be grateful if you would bring this to the attention of your Lodge and the Worshipful Master for them to note the date in their diaries.
Sincerely & Fraternally
Captain, Royal Navy
Vice President, Circuit of Service Lodges
