In April 2019, Ebbisham Lodge No 2422 invited W.Bro. David Lawrence, PPGReg, to give a talk on Heart Defibrillation.
The Lodge was opened by the Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Steve Harvey, who welcomed all the guests and visitors. After the regular business was concluded the Lodge was called off and W.Bro. David was invited to give his presentation.
W.Bro. David first talked about the history of Defibrillators from the early days in the 1920s to the devices we have today. Today’s modern automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) use advanced algorithms to detect a shockable arrhythmia in a patient before delivering a life-saving shock automatically, or at the push of a button. They are able to coach users on CPR and are designed to be used by the general public.
The presentation also included a demonstration of how defibrillators worked. W.Bro. Bob Hancock, PDepGSuptWks, was chosen to operate the defibrillator under guidance from W.Bro. David. W.Bro. Bob is the Intendant General of the Order of the Red Cross of Constantine Division of Surrey. I’m pleased to say that W.Bros. David and Bob managed to revive the patient
After the Lodge was closed the Brethren of Ebbesham Lodge and their guests sat down to a most enjoyable meal at the Croydon Masonic Centre.
