“Upside down” meeting of a Mitcham Chapter

Mitcham Chapter no 2384 Convocation 25th September 2019, Surbiton Masonic Hall

“It was a strange feeling, at least at first,” stated E Comp Mark Watkins AProvGP who was making an official visit to Mitcham Chapter, as he sat down for the Festive Board at 6.00pm without having even stepped into the Temple.

The convocation is believed to be the first planned “upside down” meeting of a Royal Arch Chapter in Surrey whereby the Festive Board came prior to the meeting which commences at 7.30pm and ends between 9.00 – 9.30pm work dependant.

The members decided many months ago to be different from other Chapters. The objective was to make the Chapter more attractive to younger Master Masons who were still working and could not easily make a meeting with a more traditional 4.00pm start.

Bro Jonathan Howard was Exalted into the Chapter in what was a wonderful ceremony. The entire evening was hugely successful and most enjoyable. E Comp Watkins was impressed that Mitcham Chapter dared to be different in order to appeal to new members.
